I must start this post with a confession. I have had this ice cream maker for 10 years and just now used it for the first time this summer. To be clear, this is completely due to laziness because I love ice cream. Finally, I decided to dust it off (literally) and give it a whirl. We started simple and made chocolate ice cream.
Another thing to note about this venture...I was fully aware that both of my boys do not really like ice cream. But, I plowed ahead anyway, because (as I mentioned) I love ice cream. So, if all else failed, I figured they could participate in making it and I could take care of eating it. We poured and mixed and froze the ice cream one day...

...and pulled it out the next evening to taste it. I took the first bite and it was amazing. Delicious. I decided right then and there that I was no longer buying store bought ice cream. It was that good. (I've already gone back on that decision because my lazy side won out again.)
I was very cautious with my serving sizes for the boys since I didn't want any of the precious concoction to go to waste. Logan looks hopeful as he takes his first bite...

But unfortunately, it was a big "no" for him. He is my chocolate lover, but he said it was "too cold." Sigh.

"Here, mom...take it. I can't bear to even look at it!" How dare I give him chocolate ice cream.

Then, Ethan inspects his before even attempting a bite.

Tentatively, he goes for it...

And he's not completely grossed out, but he said it was too cold too. Good grief, children! If I didn't have such clear memories of their births, I'd seriously wonder if they were mine. Casey says I should just be glad that it's one less sweet thing they'll want to eat. But, I don't know...I'm worried about this. I feel like children should like ice cream!
On the plus side, I did have the entire rest of the ice cream to eat and share with only Casey. And we enjoyed every bite.

Oh my! sweet expressions! they will probably be the biggest ice cream eaters when they grow up! Pop said, "what's wrong with them"!!
