Bathroom Remodeling

A few weeks ago, we demolished our master bathroom. Casey and I are now using the guest bathroom until we get the other one completed. The demo has so far been the easiest part of the whole process. A word of caution for those of you considering remodeling: Something will go wrong. And more than likely, more than one thing will go wrong. There are so many details that have to fit together just right and when you're dealing with several different contractors whose work depends on the other - you're asking for trouble. Fortunately, everything so far has been fixable, it's just caused delay, which is also another inevitablility of remodeling. You know these things going in, but it's merely a cerebral idea and when the actual experience hits, it's a lot more stressful than the idea of it was.

Casey and dad slacking off in the front yard!

Another by-product of remodeling is the constant layer of dust on everything in the house - and I mean everything. That dust is on things and in places we haven't even thought of yet! But Casey and I are already plotting our attack when we get to the stage where it makes sense to clean up. It's kind of weird, but it's been really hard to relax with our house so dirty and with things out of place. I think we took for granted how much our home helped us relax when we were at home. It's the same idea as tidying your place before you leave for vacation so that when you get home, it's something nice to come home to.

I'll post the "after" pictures when the bathroom is completed. I can't wait!
