Recipe Request

This post is for Holly, who requested a recipe since I didn't include one in my first post, entitled "Best Chocolate Cake Ever." As a result of my not having The Palm's Chocolate Cake recipe, I offer this one, compliments of my high school friend Hilary. She made this recipe for a Christmas party that our group of friends had every year (we each brought something) and we all fell in love with these brownie bars:

German Chocolate Chess Squares

1 package German Chocolate cake mix (with pudding in the mix)
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
________________________________

1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
1 (16 oz.) package powdered sugar, sifted

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Press into bottom of a greased 9 x 13 pan; set aside.

Combine cream cheese, 2 eggs and 1 cup powdered sugar; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until blended. Gradually add remaining powdered sugar, beating after each addition. Pour over chocolate layer, spreading evenly.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 - 45 minutes. Cool compeltely on a wire rack and cut into squares. Yield: approx 4 dozen.

Rach, that sounds great! I'm actually enjoying a piece of chocolate peanut butter cheesecake right now. We are so spoiled in Antigua!
