Trunk or Treat

We had so much fun seeing everyone's kids (and trunks) dressed up for this year's Trunk or Treat at church. Casey absolutely loves handing out candy and I think he'll miss doing it tonight because of work so I let him do the honors the whole evening. Its funny how many times we heard parents say these phrases: "Say thank you." and "Just take one." One little girl picked up an Almond Joy from our bucket and said that she didn't like that kind of candy so Casey told her to pick another kind - she dropped the Almond Joy back into the bucket and proceeded to pick up another Almond Joy, proudly dropping it in her bag with a satisfied smile - kids are so funny!

I was amazed at how many times I had to SAY those two phrases to my two kids! I kept thinking they would remember to do it on their own eventually- but they rarely did. I think even the most polite kids are probably overwhelmed by the hugeness and excitment of trunk or treat-
at least that is the excuse I'm going to stick with.
We handed out a TON of candy last night in our neighborhood and some of the kids were just awful. Two boys were in a large group and as I handed candy to the rest of the group they kept ringing our door bell over and over even though I was standing right there asking them to stop. These were 8 or 9 year olds! We also got plenty of teens (16 and older)- which I find annoying. AND, we had our bell ring at 8:30, 20 minutes after we had turned our porch light off. I peeked out and saw the kid at the door and the parents standing at the end of the sidewalk. Doesn't everyone know the porch light rule? We also had a child ask Cody for more candy after he'd already given them what we were handing out. The best part was how Nate went out on the porch every time someone came to the door and said "Hi, I'm Nate." Hardly anyone ever responded to him, which broke my heart, though. He was being so friendly!

It looks like you had some really good costumes! We had a bunch of kids, but no really cute outfits stood out to me. You two look like you could be going to the Kai-O Corral!
I love the little squirrel peeking out from the sign.
