Seven Years Bad Luck

I can laugh about it now. Not so on Friday. Before leaving for work Casey and I decided to move our bathroom mirror, which has been sitting in one of our spare bedrooms since we demolished the bathroom for the remodel, into the bathroom because the glass installers were coming to put it up that day. I was thinking that I didn't want them trapsing through all the other junk I have stored in that room right now to get the mirror so we thought it best to move it. And during the move of this very large and semi-heavy mirror, I commented on how ironic it would be for us to break the mirror now since this was the last piece in completing our bathroom after a few months of work. Casey commented how he did not think that ironic would be the word he would use if we broke the mirror. So, when I was setting my side of the mirror down on the tile floor of the bathroom, trying to pry my fingers out from under it...I let it fall too hard and the corner cracked. Oh, the agony! So many things had gone wrong in the remodel - so many things. And all of those things I took in stride and just told myself that we had to move on and fix them and not worry about how much it stunk that they happened in the first place. But this was different. It was my fault it happened. It was the last thing we needed done. But I probably would not be sharing this story if it didn't have a happy ending. Yes, the installer said that the crack would not continue into the mirror because it was heading to the outside of the mirror and the bevel strips he was putting up more than covered the crack, so he installed it. My lesson learned is two-fold. First, let installers move things for you. Secondly, never, ever joke about something bad happening - it might just happen.

I think I would have cried and cried and cried and probably cursed a whole lot if that happened to me. But then I would have felt silly for wasting all that time crying and cursing when it turned out to be okay- I am so glad it had a happy ending! So keep us posted about your luck over the next 7 years.

I would have reacted the same as Becky. I have a tendancy to get all worked up and it turns out ok. :)
