Although I am not a big fan of weather which necessitates more than a sweater or jacket, I believe that there's good to be found in most things, especially nature. I just love how the ice has formed into icicles on the plants and structures of our neighborhood. It creates the feeling that there's crystals on everything, sparkling even under the grayest skies like jewelry. I also love the sound of the rain and the slightly louder clinking of the sleet on the windows. It's a sort of symphony that reminds me of the power and great design of this earth. I especially love that this weekend was fairly schedule-free and all I had to do was sit in front of our fire, read my book and make chocolate-chip cookies (Becky's recipe, of course!). By the way, has anyone ever succeeded in making cookies without sampling the cookie dough? I'm weak - I just can't do it!

I have to say that I HAVE resisted the cookie dough a few times only because they say you are not supposed to eat raw egg when pregnant because of the risk of salmonella. But, I've made these cookies several times while pregnant with Baby #3 and have eaten cookie dough anyway. I guess I am weak too!
Rachel, you take wonderful pictures! I love those icicles... but, like you, I'm not fond of the cold weather.
Making the cookies without eating dough - can that be part of the procedure!! :) I have resisted like Becky but only when pregnant - but that was so hard I hardly made cookies while pregnant b/c the temptation was too strong. I may have even cheated with a little lick of the beater.
I thought that it was mandatory to eat the cookie dough...
