Parking Lots

Parking lots are so frustrating for me. Not because I dislike parking my car or anything. It's just that there's so much potential for frustration in the way that other people act in a parking lot. And parking lots are unavoidable unless you can get someone to do a "drive-by" for you and drop you off, circle around and pick you up. Even then there are times, like when you get groceries, that you'll have to park to get them loaded. Just take all the bad drivers that are on the roads and cram them into a smaller space where people have to line their cars up in tightly packed rows, back up to get out of those rows, and then walk amongst the cars as pedestrians to and from their destination. That is a parking lot.

The craziness that we see on the roads is magnified in a parking lot. People tend to be very careless when backing out from a parking space. They will sometimes cut you off even though you are more than halfway out of your parking space. They drive way too fast for a place where people mingle with cars. And then there's the parking violations: taking up two spaces, parking really crooked or half-parking. I had never seen quite so bad a case of half-parking until today in our parking garage. Someone had only parked a few feet into the space and left about 3/4 of their car out in the drive space. I can see how you might have perception problems with how far to pull up in a parking space, but I can't imagine getting out of my car, seeing my car parked like that and just locking it and walking into work. So strange.

I know its not right, but sometimes I have a very strong urge to leave mean little notes on those people's cars.

It's so funny how you forget about the luxury of seemingly normal things. I would KILL for a parking lot out here, for anything I have to do during the day, including parking at my own apt. Rachel, you will die to know that I have aquired hundreds of dollars in parking tickets... but I hear you, people on the road are crazy

Rachel! Oh my goodness it has been a long time. How good to hear from you. I know it's just through the electronic world, but it's nice to connect with old friends. I'm looking forward to catching up on your blog. :)
