Today, three people asked me how I felt leaving Ethan and coming to work. Honestly, it wasn't that hard. I missed him and I love being around him, but I think because I know this isn't a permanent situation, I'm okay with it. And 5 hours isn't that long. But, I sure was glad to see him when I picked him up today!
Coming to work today was so weird! Except for the newly renovated bathrooms (the new automatic flush scared me to death...I was not expecting that!) and hallway on our floor, not a thing has changed. I sat in my old office, looked out my old window, and even my password and email were still active on my old computer. It took me about an hour to acclimate myself, but after that, doing the job was like riding a bicycle. Even the details came flooding back to me. And in many ways, when I was walking around there today, it felt like I'd never left. Just been on a long vacation or something. It certainly didn't feel like slightly more than 7 months since I'd worked there.
I can't fully express how strange it was to be doing my old job again. It was very much like the first time I came home from college after being away for about three months. And when I drove my car again after coming home from Oxford, England after five months. Its like an old glove that you haven't worn in a long time but that still fits like...well, a glove.
