Moving

We're moving. In about two weeks! It seems like this all happened in the span of about two weeks too. Really fast. We're moving to a slightly larger house with a bigger backyard that is 50% closer to Casey's office. That's the deal in a nutshell.

Because of our incredible realtor, the process has been really easy. But not as easy as last time. As first-time home buyers, I don't think we really appreciated how simple that process was. Now we appreciate it. There is a little more to it when you have to sell your house too. And guess what comes along with that? Showing your house. Want to know the worst thing about showing your house? It's simple, really...everything.

Our house was on the market for almost exactly three weeks and during that time we had 19 showings and three offers. There was hardly a day that we didn't have at least one showing. Here's what stinks about that:

1. You have to keep your house completely clean all the time. I am a pretty neat and clean person already, but showing our house took that to a whole new level. You have to make the best first impression possible.

2. You have to be ready to leave your house at a moment's notice. Usually we got more than a moment's notice, but even then, vacating your house at various times throughout the day is less than convenient...especially when you have a baby.

3. You have to let people that you don't know into your house when you are not there. And they will look through your drawers, closets and everything else...when you are not there. It's just weird.

We were so glad when the showing process finally came to an end. Then there's the inspection. You may think that nothing is wrong with your house, but I guarantee that the inspector will find something. It may be small, but he will find something.

So now we've fixed all the little things (like oiling the garage door) that the buyer has requested and we're in the limbo (otherwise known as the you-better-get-packing) phase. And I have yet to pack one box. But I have plans to start today. Fun. If there is perhaps one thing I think I will dislike more than showing my house, it may very well be moving.

Just think of your big yard and being able to let Ethan outside to play! Plus, I can imagine your packing abilities far surpass the norm! =0)

Good luck with the move! I know you will be glad to be closer to Casey's work.

That's so exciting! From what Dara has said, you are going to be closer to us too. Now we can get the boys together for some playdates!
