The Trains!

Photobucket

In an earlier post, I mentioned that I'd like to take Ethan to the trains at Northpark this year. I knew he would love it and they are special to me because of my history voluteering there. So, on Monday morning my mom and I took the boys. We got to the doors just before 10am when they opened and were among the first in line.

I was not surprised...Ethan did love the trains. So much. He was completely awed by them. He got to see Thomas and the Polar Express Train. And the Hogwarts Express, although he doesn't know what that is...yet (but he will one day!). Because we were there when they opened, we got to spend a decent amount of time in the display before it started getting a little crowded.

The photos definitely don't do the experience justice...and the lighting was wacky (but fun) so I didn't even try to "fix" it in Photoshop.

After the trains, we went downstairs just in time for Santa to tell his fireside story. Man, that Santa is realistic! But, Ethan was not that interested in Santa's story....he wanted to find the playground. He did not understand that Northpark does not have a playground.

BUT, we did find something interesting in the Build-a-Bear window that drew us inside...the characters from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Ethan is obsessed with this movie right now. He asks to watch it every day and wants me to play only two songs in the car right now...Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Holly Jolly Christmas...both from the movie. Anyway, he was thrilled with the idea of making a Rudolph to take home. And now, it goes with him everywhere except bed. His nose lights up and it says phrases from the movie (so cool) and that would definitely not promote sleeping!

There may not be a playground, but my kids LOVE to feed the ducks and turtles there! We may try to go this weekend to the trains, but I think it might be utter madness!

Your post totally inspired me to take JD today! He LOVED it and cried when we had to leave. Then I remembered your Rudolph idea and we stopped there and he went nuts for a Rudolph! Thanks for two great ideas!!

I loved the trains, too, and glad your boys (especially Ethan) enjoyed them! And, Logan looks so comfy in that Moby Wrap!
