Toy Beans

I cleaned out my pantry the other day and came across a huge bag of baby lima beans. What in the world was I planning for those when I bought them? No idea. But, immediately I thought about letting Ethan play with them. So, I set him up with a big bowl, some smaller bowls, a measuring cup and a spoon. He loved playing with the beans and scooping them into the different containers and then back again. He's played with them several times since.

Now, I keep the beans in a large tupperware container in the pantry and leave one of his measuring cups from his new kitchen in there so it's ready to play with whenever we need it. There's probably some good skills Ethan is practicing when he does this too...like fine motor skills or hand/eye coordination or something. I don't know. All I know is it's a great thing to pull out on really cold days when boredom might set in and I don't want to turn the TV on.

That's a great idea! I actually have quite a few pinto beans that I had many intentions of making crock pot beans, but haven't gotten around to it.

It is a great idea! And much easier to clean than sand (a suggestion I heard for winter inside fun). I actually heard McMama suggest the beans once!
