Laziness

When given a minute to think of all the ways in my life that I'm lazy, I am astounded:

I try not to use the things I've placed on the top-most shelves of my kitchen so I don't have to go get the stool or get up on the counter to reach them.

When retrieving our mail, I try to always do a drive-by of our mailbox from my car when driving home from work. I hardly ever get it by walking out my front door, down the path and to the mailbox.

At work, I schedule trips away from my desk so that as much as possible can be accomplished while I am up.

I am more likely wear those slacks or that sweater "one more time" instead of making a trip to the dry cleaners. (In addition, I try to keep my dry-clean-only clothing items to a minimum when buying clothes. And this is a pure symptom of laziness, not frugality.)

Sometimes I like to stuff one more thing into the trash can to avoid the inevitable - having to take out the trash and replace the bag.

I don't completely sort my laundry into the most appropriate sections. I admit that I have been known to combine smaller piles to do the least amount of loads - also being careful to do the least amount of damage to our clothes in the process.

I am more likely to pull out our Dustbuster to quickly vacuum something up even when it's more appropriate to lug out the big vacuum.

I used to not want to go to bed if there were dirty dishes still in the sink. Needless to say...I have lowered my standards.

I have a 32 oz. water bottle at my desk at work that I only have to fill up twice a day as opposed to using the 8 oz. styrofoam cups, which would necessitate an equivalent of 8 trips to the office kitchen. But I have to periodically wash my water bottle. I consider this an acceptable trade-off.

And lastly, although I do make it a point to work out several times a week, I always do it at home. I've got my treadmill, iTrain, weights, balance ball and resistance bands. I'm equipped... and too lazy to go to the gym - ironic, isn't it?

I'm too lazy to even attempt to list all the ways in which I am lazy! I confess to many of yours and there are plenty of my own.

I have to admit that I do several of those things as well...especially the dishes in the sink and the laundry thing...I am sure if I stopped and thought about it, I could think of several more things!!

Sometimes I see it as lazy but sometimes I see it as something has got to give. If we try to do everything to the fullest extent we might miss something else - like time with family. There are so many things competing for our time.
