Just in case you needed more proof that there really are crazy people out there - I will recount a phone conversation with one of our clients this morning. The gentleman was asking some other questions about business related stuff but at the end of the conversation, he said this:
Client: "I have a special message for you. It's in code so you will have to decode it to understand what I'm trying to say to you. Are you ready?"
Me: "Yes."
Client: "Happy New Year." (whispers)
Me: silence.
Client: "Did you get that? It's in code. Happy New Year (whispering again). So, decode it and you'll know what I mean."
Me: "Thanks. Bye, bye."
Well-meaning? Yes. Friendly? Yes. Crazy? Also, yes. Well, these kinds of things make my day interesting anyway! Happy New Year!

Am I missing something? I don't get it. Or is it not to be gotten? I think it's sort of creepy.
Ok, I guess I have to clairfy - this guy is one of our clients. He calls a lot and is always so weird to everyone. He is just one of those people who is a little quirky and off center in his conversation methods. He was trying to be funny, I think, in his method of wishing me a Happy New Year, but I thought it was just very, very weird.
Hey Rach! Your birthday has been on my calendar since we were in the dorms together, I just haven't known how to contact you before now! And yes, we are getting old, too much older and I'll need to start having babies. I totally have a resident's son right now who is weird and says off comments trying to be funny but to us, he's just weird and sounds stupid! He thinks he is being witty but it's just dumb. :)
