A Little OCD

We all have a few obsessive-compulsive tendencies, right? Here are some of mine:

1. I absolutely have to get all of the foil seal off the rims of medicine bottles. If even a tiny bit remains, it drives me crazy!

2. In my address book, all the names and addresses must be written in the same ink and they must all be either in print or all in cursive writing. The same rule applies to my calendar.

3. All the cards in my wallet (credit card, debit card, driver's licence) have their specific places and a particular way in which they go in their slot. All must be facing the same direction and be in the same slot every time.

4. Things that come in plastic wrapping - toilet paper, paper towels, etc. - must be removed from the plastic wrapping immediately after coming home from the store. I hate seeing half-empty packaging in my pantry, closet or cabinet.

5. I like for things to come in even numbers. I won't elaborate except to say that I count things all the time to see if this happens. Weird, I know.

6. I have to keep my email inboxes clean. I delete unnecessary emails and create folders to store the ones I have to keep. I can't stand to just have emails hanging out in my inbox all the time.

7. I'm big on symmetry. As an example, our church just purchased new plants to be displayed on the stage in the auditorium - I really like the new plants - but the one on the left is turned a bit too much and is not at a 90 degree angle like the right one. Bugs me every Sunday!

8. I don't like the microwave to make the beeping noise when it's finished, so I always try to take my food out with about 1 second left on the timer. The same rule applies to my oven timer.

9. I have to have the toilet paper roll on the bar so that the paper rolls off the top of the roll instead of coming from the bottom. I have to fight the urge to switch a roll at other people's homes.

10. Staples in documents must be well-placed (upper left corner) and the papers bound by them must be in good order. If either of these two requirements is not met, I have been known to wield my staple-remover and correct the situation.

**Disclaimer - In writing this post, I am in no way trying to make light of the very legitimate OCD condition.**

I am totally with you on 1-4,8 & 10. Weird. I didn't know about all of those.

What's keeping you from marching right up to the front of the auditorium, and correcting the plant situation??? :)

Wow, I am OCD over almost all of those too! I'll see what we can do about the plant up front. :)

I'm with you on 1,2,3,6, and 9. I must admit that I switch people's toilet paper if it's someone I know well.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who did the microwave/oven last-second cancel!

I'm with you on all of them except #5 ... I do odd numbers (I like things in 3's and 5's the best).

It is amazing how many of those I agree with...and how many others I can come up with!!

Hmmm - I think the only ones that get me are 6, 8, 10. I think I am too lazy to worry about the rest.

When I first get an address book or calendar I try to be perfect with it but I always mess up and then perfection just goes out the window. Oh well.
