An Ode to Black Beans

Casey and I love black beans. I use them so often in my cooking that I sort of get nervous if we don't have black beans on hand. You know, just in case. My favorite are the Ranch Style Black Beans. They have a great flavor and texture. The black bean is a wonderful food not only because of the many dishes that can be created with it but also because of it's nutritional value. Lots of fiber and protein. Do you remember that part in Forrest Gump where Bubba lists all the ways you can cook with shrimp? Here's my list (not quite as extensive) of some of the things I cook with black beans:

Black Bean Soup
Black Bean Dip
Black Beans as a Salad Topping
Black Beans as a Side Dish
Black Bean Enchiladas, Tacos, Burritos or Quesadillas
Black Bean Chili
Mexican Bean Salad
Black Beans and Rice
Black Bean Skillet Chicken
Black Bean Hummus

There are so many more recipes that include Black Beans as a minor ingredient. The only other things that I use more when I cook would be olive oil and black pepper. I use those a lot.

I'll pass on the black beans though maybe at your hands I might acquire a new liking...
