Smiles

These things have made me smile today:

1. Man blowing leaves into the street as I was driving. The leaves blew up and swirled all around my car like they were caught in a gust of wind. Reminded me of the movies.

2. Having tomato soup with a granny-smith apple for lunch. This reminds me of many identical lunches I had while I was studying in Oxford, England. Tomato soup is cheap but so, so good. Especially the creamy kind. Especially the homemade kind, but I didn't have that today.

3. The small container of Halloween candy my coworker gave me when I walked in to my office this morning. Since we have no children yet, all we do is give candy away at Halloween, which is fun...but it's nice to get some candy too!

4. Thinking about Casey being so excited to hand out candy tonight to the kids in their costumes. He absolutely loves doing this and I love watching him have such a good time. Plus, he jumps to the door every time so I don't have to get up a million times!

5. Making plans for Thanksgiving (especially menu plans) and knowing that November starts tomorrow. Fun!

I also LOVE giving out Halloween candy to the little kids. It's so fun to see them in their cute costumes.

On the other hand, there will always be that group or two of teenagers who demand candy. I always want to say "You are TOO old to trick-or-treat. Go volunteer for the homeless children you selfish teenagers!" But I don't say it, I resist and give them candy (and a dirty look).

Hey Rach.
I meant to post this the other day, but almost the next day after your description of Butternut Squash Soup, hospital cafeteria served it! I tried some just for you, and it was WAY YUMMY! (Our cafeteria always had good soup.) Today, we had pumpkin soup, and it was really quite yummy as well.
Anyways... I thought of you!

Casey is a sweetheart.
It dawned on me tonight that tomorrow really is November, and it freaked me out a little. How could there be only 2 months left in this year? Where did it all go?
