A Christmas of Forgetting

I thought about naming this post "a Christmas to forget" because that's what happened (see story below) but that sounds wrong and we definitely won't be forgetting this Christmas. We had a great time with our families and we were able to relax and enjoy spending time with everyone this year. However, that will not be the most memorable part of this Christmas for me and Casey. My pregnancy-induced (that's what I'm blaming it on anyway) forgetfulness characterized Christmas Day for us in a big way. First we went over to my parents' house on Christmas morning. I realized I had forgotten the food I was supposed to take to Casey's family's gathering later that evening. So, we went back to our house for the food. Then, I realized I had forgotten our camera back at my parents' house. So, we went back to my parents' house for our camera. Then we made our way to Casey's family, which is one hour south. On the way there, I realized I had forgotten the presents we were supposed to bring for the gift exchange. We did not go back for these. So, we just didn't participate in the Chinese gift exchange. When we left Casey's grandparents' house late that night, we went to his aunt and uncle's new house since we'd never seen it. We left there at midnight. About halfway home (30 minutes down the road), I realized I had left my purse at their house (essential). This is perhaps the only time in my life I have done this. So, we went back for my purse. An entire hour later, we were back at the spot where we turned around the first time and I realized that I had forgotten one of my dishes at the grandparents' house. Needless to say, we did not go back for that. We got home at 2am. I applaud Casey for not getting angry with me. He did laugh a little bit at me but only after throwing his hands up in the air and asking what had happened to his usually really together wife. I don't think he knew what to make of me that day. I really have no idea either.

I really can't imagine you forgetting so many things in one day. Really. It seems impossible. At least it makes the rest of us feel better that even the most super-organized woman in the world has an off day now and then. I can even use this in the future to get me off the hook when I forget a few things. I'll say, "Cody, at least I didn't forget as many things as Rachel did..."

I agree...that does not sound like you at all. I'm already forgetful as it is. Does that mean when I'm pregnant there's no hope?!

I loved hearing that I am not the only one in this situation...they have been making so much fun of me at work because I have been so forgetful.

Thank goodness Casey was so understanding!!

It is definitly a pregnancy thing! I was very forgetful when I was pregnant. And I have a little bit of bad news... a little bit of it sticks around with you even after you give birth :(. It did for me anyway :).
