Appliance Rebellion

My major appliances have been acting up lately. Did you see the second Transformers movie where all the kitchen appliances come to life in the beginning of the movie? If so, that will give you a mental picture...if not, then count yourself lucky, because frankly, that movie wasted 2 hours of my life I'd like to have back.

First, my washing machine keeps beeping. For no reason. Over and over again. And it displays settings that I have never entered. This usually only happens when there is nothing in there...not while clothes are washing or anything. We always reset the darn thing (even unplug it for a while), but somehow or another it gets around to beeping again. It's maddening. But, I'm thankful that it's not affecting it's washing capabilities.

Then last night, my oven did display a mind of it's own. I had buns in there toasting and warming under the broiler. I had set the timer for about 3 minutes and when the timer went off, I got up to take the buns out. But on my way to the oven, I heard a familiar click. Sure enough, when I got to the oven, I saw that it had locked itself (with my buns inside...on broil) spontaneously and showed a strange code on the display. Probably an error code or something. But in any case, Casey was able to reset the oven and get it to unlock, but not before our buns were toast.

Finally, our dishwasher...bless its heart. It sounds like a jet plane taking off. I am not kidding. So loud that we can't watch TV in the family room if it's on. So, if you feel that it's been too long since you've been on vacation, just come over to our place...we will turn the dishwasher on and you can close your eyes and pretend you are on your way to Hawaii or your destination of choice. Still, despite the ruckus it makes while washing the dishes...at least it does wash my dishes, because I hate washing dishes almost more than anything.

Now, I'm not giving up on our appliances just because they are creating mayhem. We'll stick with these wackos until they're dead and irreparable or until we save up enough money to remodel our kitchen...whichever comes first.

Wow, all very weird! Is there a special pull of the moon or something???

I second the dishwasher thing! It has been almost 5months since we have had a dishwasher, and I am DONE with doing them by hand!
