Cookies, Tea and Time for Me

Yesterday might have been close to a perfect day for me. It was Sunday, so Casey was home and football was on TV. I love being on the couch with him. About 10 years ago, I would not have added that football part, but having it on TV is sometimes fun to watch and it definitely signals that fall is here (or almost here), so I'm all for it.

Then, both boys slept for a good three hours in the afternoon and I made Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies...a new recipe I was trying. The cookies were delicious. Very cake-like and delightfully spicy for a crisp day like we had yesterday. It was a lovely 66 degrees outside when I sat down with my favorite tea (Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice) and my cookies. Check out the recipe if you'd like to try them too.

Then, I made soup for dinner and spent the early evening cuddling with my boys. We took a family walk around the neighborhood. Then I read with Casey on the couch after they were asleep again. Just about perfect. Not sure what could have made it a better day, actually. Maybe just that it would be a little bit longer, I guess.

I love days like that. And I those cookies look delicious. I was just sharing with Jonathan all of the fall recipes I wanted to put into action. I will have to add these to the list!

It is amazing how some crisp weather sure adds some happiness, memories, and excitement to a regular day, doesn't it? I was just commenting that I might just have to find a comfy quilt, a good book and light, and go curl up on the porch and allow the weather to envelop me!
