Last weekend, while we were at the lake house, I took Ethan down to feed the horses. When we first got there, the horses were on the other side of the field from us. So I whistled at them and shook our bag of carrots to let them know we had food. They came.
Here's Ethan watching the horses approaching. He was so excited to feed them!
We came with a full bag of baby carrots and left with zero because Ethan insisted on feeding those horses every single one. He was so funny about it too...he wanted to make sure that each horse got fed and he wanted to divide the carrots equally among the horses. That didn't quite work out because some were more interested than others, but I thought the sentiment was cute.
Ethan was not scared at all by these large animals. He had no hesitation in walking up to them and feeding them. He loved every minute.
He also talked to the horses and would say things like, "Don't worry, horsey, you're next. I'll bring you a carrot in just a minute." Listening to him talk to the horses totally cracked me up. When he was all out of carrots, he said, "mama, I think the horses are sad because we are out of carrots. Let's go to the grocery store and get another bag." I told him we could bring another bag next time we were out there. It is definitely something we will do again because we both had so much fun.
