Macro Love

During Thanksgiving, I was using my 24-70mm lens to take family snapshots of what everyone was doing in my in-laws back yard. Their back yard just happens to be beautifully landscaped by Casey's mom, Donna. And part of that landscaping attracts beautiful butterflies. As I was sitting on the porch, I was able to sneak fairly close and zoom in on this butterfly. Despite the fact that 70mm is not super macro, I got a pretty close-up shot. And it got me thinking about what would be possible with the 100mm. Hmmm.

I also played around in Photoshop with the editing on this photo. I really like both of these edits for different reasons.

love it!!! Awesome shot and how cool that you were able to sneak up on the butterfly! I'm always trying to find my style in editing. I love so many different looks, but want to stick to something consistent... ps- I'm thinking of upgrading to a full frame camera in a few months (Nikon D700)!!!

Stunning. I prefer the second editing but both are beautiful.
