4th of July | 2014

This year for the 4th of July we went to Mimi and Pop's house again, although they were not there to celebrate with us (they were in St. Thomas). But we used their house and pool since they have such a great view of some fireworks. I was able to find Mimi's stash of American flags for the boys to wave around.

We had some of the boys' best friends come and celebrate with us...Ashton and Brennan. Somehow all the boys ended up dressed in baseball/Rangers shirts.

Every year we take a family photo out in front of the house. Last year is probably my favorite one yet. This year, however, Ethan was not into the photo at all. His face does make me laugh, though. Stinker.

Believe it or not (for JULY), it was a little too chilly for the adults to swim. But, of course, the kids don't care so they jumped right in. And played in the fountain...

I'm not going to lie...this made me nervous...

After they were done with swimming (or we just made them get out), we brought out our patriotic popsicles, which were a big hit with the boys. A consolation prize for having to get out of the pool.

Everyone got dressed again and we had yet another treat...brownies. With ice cream for those that like it.

Then, the dads played soccer and various games with the boys on the front lawn while we waited for the sun to set.

As the sun was setting, we brought out the smoke bombs that Dustin and Christina had brought with them. The boys thought the different colors of each one were so cool.

We both brought some sparklers, so we got those out next since it was dark enough to really appreciate them. In the past, the boys have been wary of sparklers so close to them. But this year they were all in.

We had a LOT of sparklers to burn through, but the boys were loving it so we kept going. It was really dark by the time we got to the end of the stash.

On the last few, we tried to get some "light painting" photos. The top one is Logan and the bottom photo is Ethan.

Before we knew it (the sparklers had kept us well occupied), the fireworks started!

It was such a great evening with an awesome grand finale with the fireworks. We took home some happy, but very tired boys!
