This year we did Christmas at Mimi and Pop's house on Christmas Eve. We spent most of the day over there opening presents, playing with presents, and eating our traditional Christmas meal together...along with some games mixed in for fun. Before things got started, we managed to snap a few photos in front of the tree.
Then the boys acted as elves and passed out presents to everyone (those of us who were opening presents on this day, that is).
Then, because they are the only kids, they got to open their presents first.
Ethan loved his new chess and checkers set. He is wanting to play chess ALL the time these days, so this will come in handy.
And Logan got Hungry Hungry Hippo...a game I remember fondly from my childhood.
Grandma and Grandpa were there, of course.
Opening stockings at Mimi and Pop's house on Christmas Eve is no problem...the boys didn't even think to ask why that was happening. They get stockings stuffed at all three houses at which we do Christmas...and on different days. I guess they are just used to it.
Mimi took some photos for me of Casey and me opening our gifts. CJ got his favorite house slippers from L.L. Bean.
And I got a fancy food processor, which I have never had before. Hello pesto, graham cracker crusts, and other fun things...I will be making all of you soon!
The boys picked out gifts for their grandparents (and us) again this year. They got Mimi a Mickey photo holder snow globe. Inside, we put a photo of them and Mimi and Disneyland from this May. She loved it.
Despite the fact that their presents were waiting to be played with, the boys are so great at watching everyone else open theirs. They were close on hand for Pop.
Mimi and Pop got the boys scooters this year and after all the presents were open, we went outside to give them a spin. I had covertly brought along their helmets so they could wear them for this. Ethan picked up on the scootering quite quickly.
Logan did a great job too, although he fell a little more. And every single time he fell, he said, "good thing I have a helmet!" It was so funny!
We took some videos of the boys scootering and here daddy is showing them a slo-mo video of themselves.
Pop did not want to be left out of the fun, apparently. Hang on to that camera, Pop.
The boys played outside for a good while. And then came inside to play with some of their other toys and games. Later in the afternoon, Mimi and Grandma got to work baking our dinner...our traditional curried meat pies that we always have. Everyone looks forward to this meal.
While we were waiting for dinner, Aunt Pam got out a Christmas bingo game she had brought and the boys had the best time playing.
She had even brought prizes...and this mega Hot Wheel car ramp was one of them. So much fun! This kept the boys plenty busy after they were done eating and the adults were still chatting. We left in plenty of time to get home and get ready for Santa that night...since it was Christmas Eve!
