Revolutionary Thought

The toilet seat - a source of contention. Have you ever heard a man say, "I can't stand that she always leaves the toilet seat down!" I bet not. Casey and I have a system. It's so simple and I never gripe about the toilet seat because of it. He puts it up when he goes. I put it down when I go. I've always thought it strange that women complain about the small things so much (myself included) and expect that men should put the toilet seat down for them when we wouldn't even imagine putting it up for them. I think that's a silly expectation. We both use the apparatus in different ways and neither one trumps the other - in my opinion. Now, when we're visiting at someone's home or in our own guest bathroom, we both leave the seat down because it looks better and it's courteous to others who don't abide by our "system." It works for us.

Chris and I must be weird. We both like it down, so it is always down at our house. I guess we both think it looks better if it is down, so that is just what we do. I dont know why it is such a big deal to people though.

I agree. I could careless - although Jake does normally put it down so I kind of expect it. There have only been a few times that I almost fell in the toilet b/c I did not realize it was still up. Of course I thought it was funny and nothing to complain about.

I've never thought about it that way! I don't usually care, except when guests are over. Still... good point.

We always like ours down, too... in the guest bathrooms & in our own bathroom. Our kids have picked up on that also, because even they will put the seat down. Yes, it does look better. But, here's another gross reason... my mom, who is a germaphobe, once told me some specifics about a test that conducted how far toilet contents can spray out when flushed. Needless to say, I was thoroughly disgusted... with the test results & with her for telling me!! After hearing that, I have always closed the lid. And, kept my toothbrush as far away from the toilet as possible! :)
