"Your backyard friends...the Backyardigans..."
Ethan is currently obsessed with the Backyardigans. He's seen an episode here and there in the past, but this summer he really became attached to it and wants to watch it every time he gets to watch TV (we have episodes recorded with our DVR). Personally, I love the show. I think it is so imaginative and I love how they use songs from different genres to help tell the story. Even though it is not overtly "educational" because there's no counting or different languages or anything like that, it does teach kids a lot about how to pretend, be creative, have relationships, dance, and a little bit about music. A show about big adventures all in your backyard. It's great.

I found the Backyardigan characters (Tasha, Austin, Uniqua, Tyrone and Pablo) at a local party supply store (of all places) while shopping for Logan's first birthday party. I picked them up thinking that Ethan would like them. And they're pretty much all he's been playing with for a solid month. No joke. But I really get a kick out of him making up stories with them and going on journeys all around the house. He even picks out one each night to sleep with him. He calls them his best friends. The best thing is listening to him sing some of the songs from the shows. I really have to get that on video soon.

We have the characters also. We love that show as well. Blake went through a huge Backyardigans phase as well. He is on Diego and Little Einsteins right now. I am ready for Backyardigans to come back! :)
Kenna is IN LOVE with the Backyardigans. She saw the picture of Ethan that you had posted earlier that had the characters in it and went nuts. I have been meaning to ask where you had gotten them. I may have to start checking out the party stores!
