At the Lake with Nonnie and Papaw: Day 2

Day two started off with a quick breakfast and then a boat ride. The boys absolutely loved being on the boat. They had the best time, which meant that we all had a great time. We cruised around for a long time. The weather was just gorgeous and with the speed of the boat there was a nice breeze so we never got too hot.

This was taken right after we pushed off from the dock. Logan is still adjusting to his life vest. But, as other things distracted him (the boat, the water, etc.) he forgot all about it.

Driving the boat was a highlight for both boys. At first Ethan wanted us to slow down (it always takes him a little while to warm up to things), but pretty soon he was not only fine with our speed, but wanted to go faster.

Logan's face cracks me up in this next photo. Where he is sitting, there is quite a bit of wind at that speed hitting him right in the face.

And moments later, he gives me this smile, which is one of my favorites. What a sweetie.

One thing about Logan...that child loves to drive things. He was definitely born with that inclination because we saw it from a very early age. It doesn't matter what it is...if it goes, Logan will want to drive it. And he wants to do it on his own, by the way. Don't be putting your hands on the wheel to help him. No, he's Mr. Independent.

After Ethan became totally comfortable on the boat (after about 3 minutes), he became kind of silly.

"Look, mom...they're glasses. Really small glasses." That's actually what he said to me. And right after I took the photo, he wanted to see it. What a nut!

Both boys got tired on the long ride (the boat puts kids to sleep, truly). But Ethan could not be bothered by the occasional sun in his eyes, so he borrowed Nonnie's hat. But he never did fall asleep this time.

Logan and Ethan both had a great time riding up in the front of the boat with Papaw. Logan is waving "bye" (he says, "dye") to us as he goes up front. He always says that when he's going somewhere. Even just to another room. Just to let us know, I guess. It comes in handy. Like the other day at Target when I was checking out and I heard him say "dye" and start to walk off. Um, no, son...you can't go "bye" right now, but thanks for letting me know.

After our boat ride, we spent the rest of the day at the pools. We had lunch and naps somewhere in there too.

Ethan loved walking around on the rocks and jumping from them. He had fun, but unfortunately, Logan wants to do everything that Ethan does....so he wanted to climb on the rocks too. And I'm slightly less confident in his ability to do that safely.

But Nonnie was there to help him out.

I'm pretty sure that crazy face (below) that Logan is making is actually his attempt to smile at the camera.

Ethan tried a cherry snow cone, but didn't eat very much of it. For some reason he doesn't like cold things. Except popsicles. He doesn't even really care for ice cream, which pretty much makes him crazy in my book. But I still love him!
