This Tuesday (August 12), Ethan started first grade. Doesn't he look ready? He definitely was. Although it's not quite as momentous as starting Kindergarten last year, 1st grade is still a big deal.
I just realized that our first day photos are going to look a little similar each year due to the uniforms. And this year, Ethan is also carrying the same backpack. So, he pretty much looks a lot like he did last year...except he definitely looks older. (And he's standing on a new porch since we moved during his Kindergarten year).
I love how the backpack is so huge! Walking down the hall to his classroom...
Finding his cubby...
Putting his stuff away...
Then, he found his desk and sat down. He said he was cold (and it was cold in there), but I think he was also a little nervous. But at least his school and friends are familiar to him. He has 4 kids from his class last year in this year's class.
Logan popped into my photo with Ethan.
Ethan's teacher this year is Mrs. Norsworthy. Ethan knew who she was when I told him what class he was in...she subbed for a teacher last year. He was excited that he was at least familiar with his teacher, and Casey and I both really liked her a lot when we met.
After getting Ethan settled, we all took our turns wishing him well for his first day and giving hugs. Logan did too. I know he's going to miss his play-partner until he gets used to the school routine too.
One last look into the classroom before leaving him for the day. Ethan was actually really excited about starting school again this year, which is wonderful. I know he enjoys summer, but he's a school-loving kid too.
