Happy 2012

Photobucket

I took an unintentional blogging break this past week. Actually, it was a computer break. I only got on the computer a couple of times to check email. Like I said, it wasn't planned, but it sure was nice. Except now I still have 3 million Christmas photos to sort through and edit.

Last week we spent a lot of time together as a family since Casey was able to take a few days off. We even made some great progress on our laundry room, which I have been updating/changing. It was one of my house goals for 2011 to redo the laundry room and we almost got it done before December 31st, but not quite.

I have some goals for 2012 for the house and for myself. The new year is such a great time to look forward and make plans. But first, I spent a little time yesterday looking back at 2011. It was a wonderful year for our family. It started out with some uncertainty and a big change job-wise for Casey. But it ended up being a great decision.

I don't think I wrote about this on the blog, but Casey quit his job in January 2011 and, along with 2 partners, opened their own office/branch. Like I said, there was a great deal of uncertainty involved in that decision, but Casey doesn't leap into things without a lot of thought and we knew it would be worth the risk. And it was.

The rest of the year went right along without a hitch for us. We had some great times:

I turned 30, we had a big snow fall (and Logan got to experience snow for the first time.). We had another snow storm, which led to several days at home together. Logan started crawling. My brother got married at my parents' lake house amid raging wild fires. Ethan turned 3 (and we celebrated with a Cars party), Casey and I celebrated 8 years of marriage, and we went to Sea World (day 1, day 2). The Mavs won the Championship. I finished the playroom and Ethan went to his first movie at the theater. Logan turned one, started walking, and we had a puppy party for his birthday. Ethan took swimming lessons and started a second year of preschool. Then, the holidays introduced a flurry of fun activities, which are too numerous to list.

Whew. What a great year. Looking back on it makes me realize how blessed we are. So, it's good to look back sometimes. But, now I'm ready to look forward to 2012. I have some things planned. Yes, I do. More on that later. Right now, I'm going outside with Ethan so he can ride his tricycle.

Rachel, I love how you plan, organize and dream about things to come, but your greatest gift is to live in the moment! Nothing like watching your son ride his bicycle!
